The Government’s temporary teachers post for the Government schools were recently filed by the Education department, wherein the eligibility is limited only to the candidates who attended a particular volunteering program and who are local residents of the State. The Education department however appointed 10 members who belong to other states which is against the criteria of selection. My friends who applied for the post were rejected and not appointed. Can they challenge the appointment?

A writ of Quo warranto can be filed to challenge the department’s appointment of 10 members from other states. It is a judicial remedy available against a person who wrongfully holds the office and such appointment affects others adversely.
